General guides and specialist communities

These three starting resources offer pigeon-focused information or guidance about urban birds. Check the description: an educational resource is not necessarily able to collect or admit a bird.

Official wildlife centres are not a pigeon-rescue routeThis warning records what the cited MALP guide states; it is included so that a directory of contacts does not imply that every wildlife centre is safe for a pigeon.1 entry

CRAS, CREA and equivalent public wildlife-rehabilitation centres

Spain

Type of help
Not presented as a pigeon-rescue contact. For a pigeon, seek an experienced private rescuer, sanctuary, association, or avian/exotic veterinarian instead.
Area served
Primarily protected native wildlife. MALP's 2021 guide states that rock pigeons are not admitted except for euthanasia and warns that other columbiform birds may also be refused or euthanised.

Do not hand over a pigeon without first obtaining explicit, case-specific confirmation of admission, treatment, and outcome. Once an animal is handed over, it may not be possible to recover it.

Where this first directory comes from

The initial names, historical service descriptions and species notes were transcribed from two MALP resources. They are a starting point for verification, not a live endorsement. The official Catalonia and Madrid links above are included to show why the destination and outcome must be checked rather than assumed.
